CardWorld Acquirer
Merchant back office system
Sophisticated merchant accounting for the merchants participating in the banks POS network

This slide introduces the three central components of the system.
The Core Acquirer component provides management of Acquirer related details (such as Card Organisation details) and system information, such as FX rates or BIN tables.
The Merchant Accounting component provides the tools for managing all merchant details.
The Clearing & Settlement component provides for the (manual) interaction with the Card organisations (I.e. VISA or MasterCard); for sending and receiving clearing files and handling exception transactions (such as Chargebacks).

Back office acquirer system
Comprehensive merchant acquiring and account management

What is CardWorld Acquirer?
It’s a full Back Office Acquirer system providing comprehensive merchant management and card organisation support.
It’s based on a scaleable platform using Windows NT. This provides support for a range of volumes allowing an entry-level platform to be used for initial implementation and then upgraded as volumes increase.
CardWorld Acquirer uses a client/server design, which allows acquirers to readily interface the modules of their choice with their existing legacy systems.
The system uses an open database platform, Microsoft SQL Server, which is typically familiar to most bank’s and avoids the requirement of specialised knowledge. It also provides easy extraction of data for reporting using industry standard tools such as Crystal Reports.
The system can be installed either as an integrated solution or on a modular basis using the functionality as required. The nature of the system allows for the minimum of impact on existing banking systems.
The system uses familiar client server technology.

Acquirer details
General ledger
A more detailed look at the Core Acquiring System.
Through a familiar and easy to use GUI the Core Accounting system allows the entry and maintenance of Acquirer-level details.
All Acquirer details are managed from this component such as the definition of the settlement BINs and currencies and high-level definition of charge group detail.
The system allows the definition of multiple clearing networks and charge groups which allow the acquirer to group transactions at a high-level and distribute them to the appropriate network.
A set of accounts are maintained and linked to the Acquirer’s core general ledge by account number. These details are used to produce meaningful G/L reporting.
System exchange rates are maintained here which can either be manually updated, loaded from an interface file, or extracted from incoming card organisation rates.
Merchant Accounting
Provides Management of:

Merchant administration
Statements
Payments
Fees and Charges
Frequencies
System charge groups
Clearing currencies
Merchant Accounting provides for the comprehensive management of the merchant details.
Merchants fees and charges are applied per merchant and make reference to the charge groups previously defined at the Acquirer Core level.
Merchants can be chained into complex hierarchies in order to support large merchant organisation, allowing for statements and payments to be distributed to different levels of the hierarchy.
The system allows for a comprehensive definition of charges allowing a combination of Per Transaction Fees and/or MSC% which can also be varied to support minimum charge values as well as a tiered level of charging to introduce discounted rates based on increased volume.
All of the information is entered using a wizard approach ensuring that all required information and screens are presented in a simple and friendly manner.
Existing merchant definitions can be cloned to reduce data entry time where appropriate.

CWA Key Features

The key benefits
CardWorld Acquirer can be installed without impacting existing systems. If replacing an existing acquirer process this means parallel processing can be easily performed.
The product philosophy used by CR2 focuses on the delivery of proven off-the-shelf software with virtually no customisation. This also means that the system can be deployed quickly to take advantage of market opportunities and meet requirements.
The functionality provided ensures that an Acquirer can retain existing merchants by providing the widest range of product functionality. In the same way this will allow the acquirer to attract new business by offering new products (I.e. multi-currency) into the market.
This ensures that an Acquirer can remain competitive in today’s open acquiring market. Instead of focusing purely on pricing an Acquirer should be focused on providing a range of quality services.
